Acts of Terrorism

Diary 19 is a response to the 1995 Oklahoma City Bombing. This tragic event was the worst act of terrorism in the US until September 11, 2001. What are your thoughts after reading diary 19 and the article, "Oklahoma City Tragedy"? Do you think we have learned anything from these tragedies? What lessons should we have learned?

  1. i think that we have learned somethinq after this bombinq. after the bombinq in oklahoma we have tryed to make everythinq safer for us.. like at the airports they have made it way more safe....!!! But i think that this bombinq is really sad... i mean like hearinq about all them kids that were at the day care and they all qot hurt.. i think that it is really sad. Same with the bombinq in 9-11.. :(

  2. My thought are like WOW! I think that the bombing wasn't worth killing all them adults and kids. And I also think that only some of us have learned from this tragedie and some of us haven't. We have learned a lot from this because there hasn't been anything like this since it happend.

  3. I think in diary entry 19 the author actually learned something from the tragedy. She actually realized that there was/is no point for all the fights and anyone could be claimed as a "Timothy"

I don't think it was right for him to take it out on everyone else when they wernt the ones he was mad at and everyone else had to risk their life for something they wasnt involed with. He could have did something else to, like the police station or nothing at all. We wouldnt have so many tragedies if people wouldnt do stupid stuff like that and only think of themselves and not anyone elses lives.

  8. Kayla R,
I couldn't agree more. The world, is getting ten times more safe then it was 15 years ago. Some schools even have metal detectors because there's so much violence. Also,I've never lost anyone really close to me, and after this event, I don't ever want to, but it will happen some day no matter what. I just hope that I don't lose them to some maniac or fool that does something because of another thing that he wasn't even invloved in.

  9. The event was very tragic with 168 deaths. I don't think that anyone should get angry enough to kill 168 people. There are other ways to get your anger out that don't cause death. I think that the person who hwlped him that only got twelve years and $200,000 should have told the government so not so many people would have got hurt. He should not have bombed the building out of anger. Anger is no reason to bomb a building. Anger is not a reason to kill 168 people. Did he know how many people were in that building? Did he ever feel regret for bombing the building and killing so many people?
